The Maison de la Pierre, a museum in an underground quarry

Close to Chantilly and Senlis, the Maison de la Pierre is a museum located underground in an old stone quarry ! It is one of the rare places of memory of the life of the quarrymen of Northern France, which pays tribute to theThe DNA of Destination Creil Sud Oise: stone.

Where do all the stones that make up our castles, churches and buildings come from? Did you know that all The Creillois basin is full of quarries ? More than one hundred underground, open air, former quarry faces and troglodytic sites have already been inventoried!

Initiations to stone sculpture and the art of stained glass

The Maison de la Pierre team offers initiations stone sculpture (1h30 led by a guide from the Maison de la Pierre or several hours, led by a professional sculptor) as well as the art of stained glass (led by a professional master glassmaker). Participants first learn how to use the tools (scissors, mallets, etc.) and then create their own work of art, which they can take home with them!

Tools are loaned out and disinfected between users.
