FAMILY ACTIVITIES

- Family workshop: "Families in the lab".
Welcome to the Pavilion Laboratory! Come and try out some simple physics and chemistry experiments with the whole family: balloons that inflate themselves, balance games and experiments that you can try out together... and learn from!
Le Petit Laboratoire is a family-friendly introduction to physics and chemistry through experiments. Whether it's a balloon that inflates without blowing, a reaction balloon that spins along a string, mixing liquids or creating a balanced tightrope walker, each experiment invites you to observe and experiment.
Guided by an interpreter, young and old alike can discover simple concepts in physics and chemistry - air, movement, balance, reactions - by experimenting and taking the time to understand what's going on. It's a fun workshop where science can be practised and shared.
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 2pm - €9 per person - duration approx. 1.5 hours

- Discovery tour with "Challenge du Jardinier du Roy" animation
After a tour of the Pavilion to find out about the machines and how they work, our mediator will invite you to take part in construction challenges to explore the geometry of the formal gardens.
For around an hour, follow a guide to discover the Pavillon de Manse and its machines, an amazing place linked to the history of Chantilly Castle. The tour takes in stories, images and observations, to understand what these machines were used for and how they worked. From the XVIIᵉ to the XIXᵉ century, young and old alike travel back in time and see gears, pumps and turbines come to life, set in motion solely by the force of water. A lively and accessible tour, to understand together how the castle's hydraulic system worked.
After the tour, take part in the "Jardinométrie, le défi du Jardinier du Roy" (Gardenometry, the King's Gardener's Challenge) family activity, where you and your family can take part in construction challenges to explore the geometry of French gardens.
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 4.15pm - €10 for adults and €6 for children - duration approx. 1.5 hours

SCIENCE WORKSHOPS
Our science awareness workshops are designed for children aged 3 to 6. They aim to give them a practical, sensory experience, while encouraging their creativity and curiosity. They allow children to observe, manipulate and ask questions, developing their interest in science from an early age.

- Petits Flocons" science workshop
Petits flocons - an early-learning workshop about winter. Stories, simple experiments and creations invite children to explore a wintry world in a fun and sensory way.
An early-learning workshop about winter This workshop invites little explorers to plunge into a wintry world through stories, simple experiments and artistic creations. By manipulating materials, folding, painting and building, children discover snow and the cold in a fun and sensory way. Whether it's a landscape frosted with paint and salt, a paper snowflake, a cuddly snowman or a special snow mission, each activity is designed to stimulate curiosity, motor skills and the imagination. At the end of the workshop, families can discover the children's creations.
Workshop without parents
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. - €11.5 per person - 2 hours - For 3-6 year olds only

- On the ice floe" science workshop
On the ice floe - a fun, sensory workshop where science and art meet. Nursery rhymes, creations, folding and little experiments invite children to explore the polar world while having fun.
On the ice floe - a fun, sensory and creative early-learning workshop. Little explorers, get your mittens ready! In this workshop specially designed for the very young, science and art meet in a soft polar world. Nursery rhymes, manipulatives, creations and experiments invite children to discover the ice floe using their senses: touching, observing, assembling, folding and experimenting. From igloo footprints to volume polar bears, from folding penguins to walrus materials, each activity stimulates curiosity, motor skills and the imagination. A playful experience punctuated by artistic breaks and shared moments, culminating in a time of discovery with the families.
Workshop without parents
Wednesdays and Fridays at 10 a.m. - €11.5 per person - 2 hours - For 3-6 year olds only

- Logic Challenges" Science Workshop
Games, challenges and puzzles encourage children to observe, reason and cooperate to find solutions. It's a fun and stimulating workshop, where thinking is fun.
This workshop offers a series of games and puzzles designed to make you think while having fun. Working alone or in teams, children are invited to observe, reason, deduce and test different strategies to meet a variety of challenges. Each game requires logic, patience and sometimes speed, in a friendly atmosphere where you're allowed to try, make mistakes and try again. Whether it's a riddle to solve, a team challenge or a manipulative game, the aim is always the same: to understand, find the solution... and enjoy the pleasure of succeeding. It's a fun, stimulating, no-holds-barred workshop that develops thinking skills and team spirit, while leaving plenty of room for play and the pleasure of searching.
Workshop without parents
Tuesdays at 2pm - €11.5 per person - 2 hours - For 7-12 year olds only

- Little Magneto Lab Science Workshop
Little experiments to discover magnetism and static electricity while having fun.
Through games and small experiments, children explore magnetism and static electricity. They manipulate, observe and discover these invisible forces that make objects move, stick or repel, in a workshop that's both curious and fun.
Workshop without parents
Wednesdays at 2 p.m. and Fridays at 10 a.m. - €11.5 per person - 2 hours - For 7-12 year olds only

- Machines and Gears" Science Workshop
Children can build their own machine, complete with gears and parts to assemble, to discover and understand mechanics in a fun way.
In this workshop, children imagine and build their own machine using construction materials including gears, wheels and parts to be assembled. By testing how it turns, fits together or moves, they experiment, correct and find solutions to discover and understand how machines work, while having fun.
Workshop without parents
Thursdays at 10 a.m. - €11.5 per person - 2 hours - For 7-12 year olds only

- Origami and winter folding" science workshop
Patience, paper and meticulousness will help children to create unique snowflakes... By folding them precisely, winter will be revealed and delicate shapes will appear in their hands!
Fold, unfold, fold... snowflakes, stars and other winter shapes gradually appear. By folding and cutting, children create their own paper decorations while playing with shapes and symmetry, discovering how geometry is hidden in the art of folding.
Workshop without parents
Fridays at 2pm - €11.5 per person - duration 2h - for 7-12 year olds only

- Mathé'magie" science workshop
Cards, dice and magic: children discover how the maths lies behind the tricks. They'll try it out, be amazed and leave with a few tricks they can do again at home.
Welcome to the Mathé'magie workshop! Using cards, dice and shapes, children will discover how mathematics can be used to understand - and sometimes guess - magic tricks. Guided by a mediator, they can experiment, be amazed and learn, before leaving with a few tricks to share.
Workshop without parents
Wednesdays at 10 a.m. - €11.5 per person - 2 hours - For 7-12 year olds only

- Science workshop "Falling dominoes
1 domino, 2 dominoes, 3 dominoes... Under the children's hands, a fresco takes shape. But be careful, it could fall apart...
Children can give free rein to their imagination by creating large-scale frescoes using multicoloured dominoes. While they're having fun, they'll discover the science of balance and chain reactions, which require patience and precision. Mountains, snowflakes and other motifs inspired by the cold can take shape before the big, spectacular final bang!
