"How were the first punk bands created, one male, the Sex Pistols, the other female, The Slits? Winter 1978-1979... It was the winter of discontent in England... The country was in crisis, young people were rebelling, dreaming of music, love, changing the system and above all celebrating humanity. In 1975, a new form of free artistic expression was born, the punk movement. Margaret Thatcher's strict and austere social and cultural policies were at the root of unprecedented artistic creativity".
