Following the success of l'A-démocratie and Elff pompe Afrique, Nicolas Lambert is back with a hard-hitting new show! It all begins with a school-leaving certificate subject on the values of the Republic that his daughter brings home one evening. From these few words, Nicolas Lambert ironically retraces a century of French history, in which colonisation, decolonisation and neo-colonialism are intertwined.
Far removed from the codes of political discourse, La France, Empire is a personal account, full of humour and emotion. The actor-storyteller makes his childhood in Picardy the common thread running through this show, taking us back in time with the help of old school textbooks and radio programme archives, to find the traces of past wars in our collective unconscious. La France, Empire is one of those shows whose words resonate long after the fact.
