Crossing rue de Gournay and rue des usines 60100 CREIL
As part of their duty to remember, the Espace Matisse and the Creil Archives Department, in association with the Creil Sud Oise Conurbation, have put together an exhibition of large-format old photographs to highlight the history of the Gournay site, an industrial wasteland undergoing conversion.
Created in 1898, the electrical equipment factory was converted into a technical high school (National Vocational School) in 1929 to train thousands of students for the various professions offered by the industrial world. As the buildings had become too dilapidated, the school was transferred to Nogent-sur-Oise (Lycée Marie Curie) in 1985. The buildings were deconstructed in 2022 to make the site safe.
This open-air exhibition can be seen on the building site cladding in rue de Gournay and rue des Usines in Creil.
