The history of the factory

In 1899, the Parisian company Anciens établissements Parvillée Frères et Cie set up a porcelain electrical insulator factory and had new, large buildings constructed. These buildings were constructed between 1900 and 1901.

Prior to the installation of the plant, the main economic activity of the village was thestone quarrying.

Beyond the industrial buildings, it is the entire a working class housing estate that develops with allotment houses and gardens. Several successive generations of Cramoisy people worked in the factory from the time they left primary school until they retired.

Listed as a Historical Monument

Abandoned in 1983, the site was listed as a Historical Monument in 2002s, notably through the glass roof of its central Eiffel-style building.

At the request of the Town Hall, a rehabilitation project was launched in 2003. The work took place from 2006 to 2008 and 100 homes were built on this site.
