Located in Saint-Maximin, the Ch\u00e2teau Laversine<\/strong> now houses the premises of the Rothschild Vocational School<\/strong>. But in reality, we should rather talk about castles<\/strong> Laversine <\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A succession of castles<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The city of Laversine castle<\/strong> is today known in our territory as the home of a Lyc\u00e9e professionnel Donation Robert & Nelly de Rothschild<\/a><\/strong>. A building whose the story goes back a long way<\/strong>…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But when exploring its history, should we talk about \"the castle\" of Laversine, or \"the castles\" of Laversine?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In reality, there are 3 castles in Laversine, which have been built in succession over the course of time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first castle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The city of first known castle<\/strong> belonged to the members of theCistercian abbey of Royaumont<\/a><\/strong>created in 1228 by Saint-Louis<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A castle that was probably destroyed in 1360 during the Great Jacquerie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, there are still a number of small cellars dating from this period<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second castle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A second castle<\/strong> was then built, sometimes called a \"manor\" in the texts, surrounded by houses and a chapel. It was first occupied by Lord Aubry de Laversine<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The estate remained in the family until 1480 when Vasco de Souza buys it<\/strong>. He was an important person, adviser and chamberlain to the king, captain of Creil, who made numerous acquisitions and built up a large estate in Saint-Maximin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

His grandson, Philippe de Suze, lieutenant general in the government of the \u00cele-de-France, was a major figure in the entourage of the King of France, Fran\u00e7ois Ier<\/sup>He received them at least twice in Laversine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The castle later became the property of the prince de Cond\u00e9 who ordered its demolition in 1782<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third castle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

But the history of this place continues, since on 25 January 1874, Baron Gustave de Rothschild buys the estate<\/strong> and added the Haute Pommeraye forest to it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The construction of thecurrent castle<\/strong> was completed in barely ten years, from 1882 to 1892! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
