Built mainly in the medieval period, between the 13e<\/sup> and 15e<\/sup> Saint-M\u00e9dard church is one of Creil's heritage treasures. Since its origins, it has been used for Catholic worship, and has belonged to the town of Creil since the law of 9 December 1905 concerning the separation of the Churches and the State. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saint-M\u00e9dard church is the result of an astonishing juxtaposition of different architectural styles and periods. It was built on the ruins of a Romanesque church, adjacent to the town's medieval walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

History of the site <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The oldest parts preserved today date from around 1200. Expanded several times during the Middle Ages, the church of Saint-M\u00e9dard suffered during the Hundred Years' War, and then in the 20th century it was rebuilt.e<\/sup> The church was rebuilt in the 16th century following the First and Second World Wars, which explains the presence of stained glass windows from the Reconstruction period. The 49-metre-high bell tower was built in the 16e<\/sup> century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
